Deadline of receiving research proposals has been extended until 30 Jun 2021
DDR AWARD vision is to foster collaborative efforts in developing an inclusive epistemological approach towards Data Science technologies and their application in academic scientific research and beyond.
DDR AWARD mission is to enable researchers to combine Data Science methods and techniques with academic scientific research and open new and genuine research perspectives, by developing a Data-Driven methodology.
DDR AWARD aims at encouraging universities to build internal joint research teams that elaborate Social Media Research papers for Social sciences and Humanities areas. Those papers may vary in nature and involve Faculty members and student researchers. They may mobilize multiple departments, engaging researchers with a diverse set of skills, to solve more complex research problems.
MENA researchers are more likely to work as individual researchers than as research team members. Therefore, DDR AWARD offers the opportunity for them to join their scientific efforts in order to tackle together a human/social issue. Networking among Researchers intra and inter-universities, as well as research teamwork skills will be thoroughly developed throughout implementing their research projects and during the 'Candidates Training Program (CTP)'.
Social Media research is the process of analyzing social media data and extracting valuable hidden insights. Research is about producing new information, and social media offers unique opportunities, in addition to the massive and new content from individuals, the relationships and network with each other.
The Awards will be considered for who submit best social media research papers conducted by research teams that represent their universities. The 'Candidates Training Program CTP' is optional, a part of the whole initiative, and it will be provided to twelve selected research teams who have already submitted research proposals. The CTP will support them to develop their skills before submitting the final research papers. DDR AWARD will not consider the CTP outcomes as part of the final judgement.
By sending a research proposal and a letter of intent signed by the university presidency.
Documents and more information are available at: https://ddraward.com/apply
It is optional to attend the CTP. Well, it supports the researchers to develop research skills and soft skills, as well as mastering the Nodexl tool to analyze social network data.
No, and this wouldn't affect on the first selection after submitting the research proposals, as the team will attend the training program and submit a well illustrated research project.
The deadline of submitting the research proposals is 15, Jun, 2021. And the final research paper will be at the end of CTP, you can find more details about the important dates at:
Sure. If you will be selected among the 12 selected teams that are eligible to be involved in the candidates training program, you can attend selected topics depending on your needs, and use whatever data tools in your research, different from the one we have trained on.
The level, that will help you to understand the sessions which will be provided mostly in English, is required. However, it is recommended to have an English Expert in your team, in order to write your research paper properly. This will be considered as one of the judging criteria.
Multidisciplinary team is very recommended. However, the research topic should be categorized in Social and Humanities sciences.
